For delis and butchers
Take a number, without the paper.
Customers scan a code instead of pulling a ticket from the roll. They see their place and roughly how long, keep shopping or wait outside, and their phone tells them when it’s their turn. And the regulars get a card that rewards the weekly visit.
The deli counter
One counter, and everybody wants it at once.
- The paper ticket keeps the order, but everyone still stands watching for their number.
- Every order takes as long as it takes, so nobody can guess how long the wait is.
- Good food is sold in plenty of places, so nothing brings a regular back to you rather than the next one.
The first two are a waiting problem. The third is a reason-to-return problem.
The ticket roll, on their phone.
A code by the counter replaces the paper ticket. They take a number and carry on shopping — or step outside — instead of standing guard by the display.
